An RTI application was registered with national highway authority number NHAI-R-2017-50403-1dated 07-04-2017 which was concerned to status position and the classified seniority given to Badsar Shah Talai Ghumarwin road 42 KM in the length as the said road has been declared NH by NHAI during 1916-17 however in reply to the applicant by PIU Shimla issued vide number11011-21-2015-RTI -PIU-SML-1570 dated 20-09-2018 applicant has been informed with comments that no such information is available in this office and said road pertains to the HPPWD as till date it is not concerned to the NHAI and maintenance will be entrusted to the same executive agency Further more it is particularly mentioned here that the state government and the department of HPPWD has left its project work of improvement of sight distance grade improvement and enlarging of the existing culverts and no works taken in hand with plea that now these works would be designed and projected as per the observation noticed by NHAI by way and virtue of which improvement of above state arterial road has been stopped While asked about tentative period required to finalise the position under section --2 of NH act 1956 which empowered the GOI that it may announce any removal of any NH at any time so so notified in this regard earlier the PIU Shimla informed that no such information is available in his office As such a clear decision and required direction is very essential so that regular updates of these approvals may be notified as per the guidelines instead of the declarations and for which GOI and department of NHAI must issue further clarification to the state government as well as the other concerned so that routine working of the major district roads may not suffer more and more and department of HPPWD may also improve existing standard of the said road. as per provision made and the estimates prepared and sanctioned under the head of improvement of state arterial roads
