WHY APPRENTICESHIP AND INNOVATION FOUND NECESSARY, WHERE WORKING WITH AN EXPERT MAY ACQUIRE SKILL DEVELOPMENT TECHNIQUE REQUIRED TO GENERATE KNOWLEDGE THROUGH EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The question is whether college or university is necessary to gain practical skills. It is stated those who built Bhakhra dam project, the qutab Minar in Delhi or the Taj Mahal in Agra did not attend organised learning centres or universities, how did they build these infrastructures with mathematical and the geometrical precision without attending university, because they had honed their skills to the highest level through years of ongoing practice and apprenticeship. As such it's a mistake to think the role of the modern higher educational institutions in technical and scientific fields is to teach only the practical skills. One can enquire these by working with an expert. What the higher educational institutions need to nurture is the imagination and innovation. Higher educational institutions need to teach students to innovate new techniques and materials through research and take them to scale. A modern university thus must teach to innovate and combine skills with scale. In education in higher educational institutions for non technical subjects, knowledge creation comes to the forefront, skills required for employment in the non technical fields are learned on the job by way of experience and not taught in the educational institutions. India has to create jobs required to sustain its economic growth.
