WHILE DECIDING TO CONSTRUCT HOUSING ON THE BANKS OF RIVERS/NALLAH ETC. IT IS NECESSARY TO FOLLOW HIGHEST FLOOD LEVEL OF THE CATCHMENT AREA

Uttarakhand Chief Minister while verifying the facts of rain damages occured so during the heavy rain on 5-8-2025 in Dharali area of river bank Kheer Ganga considering the damages because of natural happening and ignoring the fact that people while decided to settle at this place have ignored the highest flood level of the catchment area of cross section of the said river where it is necessary to assume the highest flood level of the such place , as such entire area covered by the catchment area of the profile of hilly terrain may do such damages within the field of highest flood levels and for which it is necessary to avoid construction work within the highest flood level of the rivers and the Nallah, even . It is particularly mentioned here that total rainfall which reaches a stream, drain or sewer or any given point from a certain catchment area within a given time is run off and it is considered total rain fall minus evaporation and percolation losses and maximum rainfall during a short period is considered and called intensity of rain fall and the intensity of rain fall generally varies both over the catchment and with in the period of storm, whereas the catchment area and the catchment basin is the area from which rainfall flows into a drainage line, outfall or reservoir etc the boundary line of the basin is called the water shed.
