RESEARCH AND THE ANALYSIS WING (RAW) IS AN EXEMPTED ORGANISATION UNDER SECTION 24 OF THE RTI ACT HENCE INFORMATION RELATED TO CORRUPTION CASES AND THE HUMAN RIGHTS CONCERN COULD BE GIVEN TO PETITIONER.

Research and analysis wing (RAW) exempted organisation under the RTI act and unless the RTI , information sought relates to human rights or corruption related issues,it is not liable to be disclosed as per verdict of the Delhi High court .The said order came recently on a petition by an RTI applicant requested for the disclosure of the information on the Residence of the former RAW Chief allowed during the certain period.Justice Pratibha M Singh refused to interfere with a Central information commission order denying the information sought by the petitioner.The judge observed that the RAW was covered under section 24 of the RTI act,, which provide that the security and intelligence organisation specified in the second schedule of the Act ,and were exempted .The petitioner had in the year 2012 sought certified copies of the allotment of the government accomodation made by S.K Tripathi :IPS (UP) -1972 between 1986 ,from the Directorate of the Estate Government of India under the provision of the RTI  Act .When the matter reached the Central information commission after the petitioner received no response,it was clarified in the matter that RAW was an exempted organisation under section 24 of the RTI Act,and since no case of human rights or corruption was made out in the present case against the RAW Chief ,hence the information denied to the petitioner.
