Chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that habitual drinkers among the cops will be offered Voluntary Retirement Scheme it has been revealed that three hundred officers and jawans are seen habitual drinkers and the consumption of excessive alcohol has damaged their bodies for which the government has created a provision of the (VRS) and they may opt for the scheme.The process for filling of posts has been started and the vacant posts would be filled however the Chief Minister has stated that cops who may get (VRS) will continue to get full salaries but will be replaced by the new recruits .
The Chief Minister of Assam has has embarked on a mission to overhaul the functioning of the administration and make the police aleaner ,more honest force .The Chief Minister further stated that such retirement are in vogue elsewhere,it is being done the first time in Assam however it is an old rule but we have not implemented it earlier so for,however now it would be implemented.
