DESIGN REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS GROUPED TOGETHER WITH THE DESIGN RULES AND GENERALLY APPLICABLE TO THE ALL STRUCTURES ,DESIGNED BY ANY METHOD.

The construction agencies working for the structural development and infrastructure approach must be aware of the need for basing designs on requirements of adequate strength and the satisfactory serviceability of the structure. Further regarding durability, guidance such as modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, shrinkage,creep and coefficient of the thermal expansion and recommendations regarding construction tolerance relating to frame work and placing of steel , acceptance criteria for hardened concrete represented by the core tests has been suggested . Recommendations regarding stability of the structures as a whole have been too required to follow in addition to the stability of the overhanging members.Detailing rules required for the crack control have too required to follow as per the code and these rules are axpected to lead to a satisfactory design for most of the structures under normal environmental conditions. Detailed investigations of the crack width may however be required for unusual cases of structures in aggressive environments .To amplify the recommendations given in the code , a commentary on the code is being prepared by the Indian standard institution. For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with,the final value,observed or calculated , expressing the result of a test or analysis
