UGC ALLOWED 25 PERCENT SEATS FOR THE FOREIGN STUDENTS IN (UG) AND (PG) PROGRAMMES , OVER AND ABOVE THE SANCTIONED STRENGTH.

The University Grants commission has recently announced that all higher educational institutes will now be allowed to create up to 25 percent supernumerary seats for the foreign students in the UG and PG programmes .These seats would be created over and above the sanctioned strength. No doubt the presence of the foreign students will help us integrate international and intercultural dimensions in higher education but it is too necessary to have adequate infrastructure, faculty and staff as well as requirements required to increase the strength of the foreign students in said programmes of the HEIs .It is too necessary to estimate the number of foreign students to be admitted based on the available classrooms, hostels and scientific labs infrastructure. It is also necessary for the institutes to establish the credibility by offering the education that is at par with the international standards as well as good quality faculty that imparts globally relevant knowledge and experience as well as the research programmes arranged for the betterment of the international standards of facilities for international students coming to India for higher education purposes. The Association of Indian universities has decided to adopt a credit based system while granting equivalence to foreign degree courses pursued by Indian students.AIU has changed the equivalence policy by mandating that a foreign degree course would have to satisfy the minimum number of credits that have been set by the University Grants commission.
